I am looking for information on a compressor I picked up at an estate sale It is a Craftsman 283.18351, which I can not find any information on the internet.

I ran across a 283-18360 on the net ( http[://http://walnutstreetantiques.com/vintage-sears-craftsman-air-compressor-dd03058/ ).

However, mine has a Westinghouse motor, and a different style tag. Any information I can gain would be greatly appreciated.

Tag Information:

Ah.

Seems a bit much for that, but cool.

Thanks

It was setup with an air hose and a nozzle. The tank was an old brass fire extinguisher. I have it setup the same way and use it to blow sawdust off my CNC router after cutting. It's only 30 PSI, but it works well for cleaning up the machine.

Did anyone at the sale have any idea what it's for?

It looks nice, but I can't see what you'd use for other than maybe tires - but even for that the pressure is a bit low.

It has a flexible coupling between the motor and the pump. The motor is a 1/4 hp. I called sears parts direct and they have no record of this model number.

Weird. Can't actually help, but:

Is it direct drive or is there a clutch or gear set between the motor and pump?

What's the HP rating?
