i replaced my regulator on my compressor and it still wont shut off at disered pressure

by kurt
(pgh,pa)

its a 30 gallon craftsman,it will build pressure so there isnt a problem there,i assumed that the regulator was bad because it wont quit running. The regulator seems to work because if you turn the regulator to the right or the left it will adjust the pressure guadge, but it will not shut the motor off from building pressure? So i ordered one from sears and installed it but still dont shut off like its supposed to.

Bill says...

Hello Kurt:

I suspect your compressor problem is the pressure switch. The regulator only controls the downstream air pressure to your tool

It's the pressure switch that turns the compressor on and off.

Here is more info on the pressure switch.

Cheers,

Bill
