I manually spin compressor motor to start

by Keith
(Sunland ca )

My 5 hp Grainger compressor motor will not turn over. It tries. I have to manually spin the pump wheel by hand before the breaker trips ???

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I am starting a auto body shop at my house. I bought a old compressor 80 gallon, electric motor was replaced years ago

Manual compressor start

Yup, it sure sounds like you've got an electrical compressor problem of sorts, Keith.

When you read the troubleshooting pages about air compressors that don't start on this site, what were your findings on the things that are noted there for you to check on the compressor?

Please provide more info after reviewing those pages, as I suspect your answer is already there for you.

Much luck with your body shop. Yup, a good compressor will be a must for you, I expect.
