Type of breaker

In addition to Dougs answer, again, this is a UK perspective, the normal type of breaker in an electrical system is a B type breaker, for compressors, you need a D type breaker, because it gives a longer delay before it trips.

Breakers or fuses?

Either way, motor rated have higher / longer trip characteristics to handle large startup power of the type generated by electric motors.

This machine should be drawing about 9.6 A, and I understand normal outlets in the UK are rated 13 A, so you should be OK that way.

I'd suggest you take a look at the section on blows breakers troubleshooting guide here.

Please let us know if I'm wrong about the above as it pertains to the UK and also what you find by the troubleshooter.
