Husky Model WL651001AJ Compressor doesn't restart after initial pressure buildt up

by Jamal Khorrami
(Aurora, Ont. Canada)

It seems the pressure switch is not function properly. Once Air Compressor is turned on, it builds up the pressure nicely in the tank and cuts off at 125 psi.

However, after pressure goes down, Air Compressor does not restart at all!

I have to unplug the power cord, wait a few minutes and plug it back in, only then it turns on and build pressure again! this cycle goes on...what do you think the problem is?

Thanks,

Jamal

A couple of things come to mind, Jamal.

Empty the tank of air, start the compressor, let it run up to cut out pressure, and monitor and ensure that the unloader valve is working. See that page on this site if you aren't sure what that is.

The second thing I would do is with a full tank, use air until the pressure drops to cut in. If the air compressor does not start automatically, you want to use a multi-meter to see if the pressure switch has tripped and that power is flowing to the motor circuit. If power is not flowing, and the pressure in the tank is below the normal cut in pressure, then it's time for a new pressure switch.

I added a parts store linked from the top of both side columns, and in that you can find an assortment of pressure switches. Get one that has close to the same pressure setting as the old, that interfaces with the unloader valve the same way, has the same voltage, and that you can actually mount to your compressor.

Cheers,

Bill

60 gal huskey compressor motor will not turn on

by cj

I have checked and I have ele. up to motor the off/auto switch works because it kills the power to the motor but it will not start up and run . we have had the compressor for about 7 days now.

If the compressor is only 7 days old, there shouldn't be much wrong with it, unless you bought a dud.

If there is air in the tank, dump all the air and try again to see if that makes any difference.

You say that the ON/OFF switch passes power, but is power getting from the pressure switch to the motor if the tank is empty? The pressure switch should have tripped to passing, and power should flow through the switch to the motor circuit.

Unless your ON/OFF switch is your pressure switch that is, then you've already determined this. I can't tell as I don't have the model number of your Husky air compressor to refer to.

See the troubleshooting section on the sitemap page for links to reasons why air compressors will not start.

Post a comment here with any developments or findings if you wish.

MOTOR KEEPS BURNING UP

MOTOR CATHES ON FIRE
_____________
I don't know the model number, the motor HP or the voltage of your compressor.

Without that, I couldn't even begin to guess.

Please add a comment here will full details of your Husky air compressor, how you are getting power to it, what the amperage of the circuit breaker is, and anything else about your use of the compressor.

They are not supposed to catch on fire.

Motor wont stay on

Husky 26 gallon air compressor motor wont start.

If the unit is on and I shake or hit it then the motor will start for a few seconds then turn off. Smells burnt.

Bill says....

1) Make sure you have no other appliances pulling power from the same circuit as the air compressor while it is trying to start

2) Do not use an extension cord

3) Drain the tank to zero PSI, close the drain, try to start the air compressor, and add a comment here telling me what transpired.

Cheers,

Bill
