my husky H1506f will not shut it self off when max pressure is reached

what could cause this problem..

Bill says...

Hello Kevin. When your compressor pressure reaches the cut out level, and the compressor doesn't stop, that means that electricity is still flowing to your electric motor, and it keeps running.

The compressor will then keep running until the pressure relief valve opens, and that should bleed the pressure in system down below a danger level even though, then, your compressor will keep running until something fails.

If the compressor won't shut off at the cut out pressure, it's 99% sure that your cut out pressure points in the switch are staying closed allowing power to flow to the compressor motor, and the simplest thing to do is to replace the pressure switch.

Cheers,

Bill

Compressor wont shut off

Most likely your contacts are stuck, these contacts are not real good with high voltage.Disconnect the power and manually pull the contacts apart if they go right back together then your air adjustment need to be readjusted, if they stay apart check the contacts for burned spots. You can sand them to clean them up but this will happen again over time. Bigger compressors use magnetic starters which use low voltage to the regulator and the Magnetic starter controls the high voltage. Howard
