husky compressor will not build a high enough preasure

I have a 4 year old husky 3 gallon air compressor and the pressure in the tank will only get up to 50 and it will stay there while it still runs, i checked the release valves and hose for leaks and all seems fine. whats wrong with it?

Patrick, it could be a bunch of things, and many of them are covered on the pages linked from this one.
