Husky Compressor, Model 516-051 will not kick back on by itself

by Daryl
(Tn)

My compressor runs fine but when the air pressure gets low it will not kick back on by itself. I have to unplug it for about 5 mins and plug it back in. It then comes on and bulds pressure back up. Any idea what this could be?

Please empty the tank, and start the compressor. Let it run up to cutout pressure and monitor it to see if the unloader valve works. If it does not, that's likely your problem.

Also, if you are using an extension cord or power bar, don't. Plug the air compressor directly into a 20 amp protected circuit to ensure that you are getting adequate power to the motor.

Comment here with your findings, if you wish.

Cheers,

Bill

Husky compressor won't start

Koby, have a look at the troubleshooting pages, the one about why air compressors won't start. A bunch of things for you to check there.

When done, add a comment here with your findings, and make sure you indicate what model of Husky air compressor you have, please.

I added an image of a Husky-H1820F for the benefit of other visitors.

Cheers,

Cut in adjustment
by: Bill

Hi Randy...

If your air compressor pressure switch has an adjustable cut in / cut out or pressure range, then it's possible.

The question I have is why would you want this?

If you need air to your spray gun at 60 PSI, the air regulator on the line to your spray gun should be set for that.

The fact that the air compressor cycling between 100 PSI cut in and higher on cut out will have no bearing on the pressure getting to your spray gun.

If you find that you are continually running out of air, adjusting the cut in won't help. If that is the problem, you either need an air compressor that can supply more volume of compressed air, or a spray gun that uses less.

See the Sizing pages for info on how this works together.

Cheers,

Bill

Husky air compressor does not turn on at all

my 20 gallon husky air compressor used to fill up with air and then turn itself off. then do it over and over again. Went out into the garage to use it and it doesn't even want to turn on at all. I've tried different outlets in the garage and even in the house. No dice.

OK, it's good that you checked the outlets. Assuming that all of them aren't fried, then you've got power to the compressor. Then what?

Take a look at the page in troubleshooting about air compressors that don't start. Much info there and things to check.

When you have that done, post a comment here with what you found and we'll see if we can help you figure out why your Husky air compressor will not start.

Cheers,

Bill
