Husky 26 gal keeps shutting off at 50psi

(Abilene TX us )

It was working really good until one day I was actually putting it to some really good use working on the pickup all the sudden it will build up to 50 psi and then it will shut off the little button and behind the motor keeps popping out if I give it a few more minutes I can click it and it will come back on and maybe build up to 20 more pounds

I have to keep doing that to get up to a hundred PSI

not sure of the model number because the paint is all oxidative and it was sitting out in the sun before I bought it

"I was actually putting it to some really good use" suggests to me that your compressor motor has become overheated and damaged.

By repeatedly pushing in the reset button, particularly if the motor is hot, may result in damaging the motor further.

If you had the compressor on an extension cord while you were putting it to good use likely meant that the motor was under-powered.

See the page on this site about testing the compressor motor capacitors. If it / they are good, then I would suspect it's time to get the motor rebuilt, all this assuming that the pump itself cycles with no unusual load to the motor.
