Broken wire to the start solenoid (capacitor?) compressor no longer humming

by Mike
(Houston,TX)

Porter Cable 26 gal vertical would not start.

It hummed before tripping the breaker.

A wire to the start solenoid was broken near the connector.

The white wire to the run capacitor was almost broken.

Stripped 1/4" from wires and replaced female connectors. Reinforced wires near connectors with shrink tubing.

Problem solved.

Fill up time for 80 gallon porter-cable model cplkc7080v2 compressor

by Mike Moore
(Columbus, Ohio)

I purchase 7 hp 80 gal air compressor cut in press 140, cut out press 175. It seems to take for ever to fill up. I just wondering what's The average time does it takes to fill up from 0 to 175 psi. Your answer will give me something to go by weather I may have a problem or not. Thanks!

Mike, from zero PSI to cut out I'm guessing 5-8 minutes or so. From 140 - 175 PSI 2-3 minutes??

These are just guesses as you don't indicate the air compressor make so I cannot, nor can any other viewer, provide their own personal experience with this air compressor.

If you just purchased the compressor as you say, this information should be in the manual.

After break in, make sure that you close the tank drain valve, hmmmm?

Bill

C-2002 porteer-cable compressor

by Darrel Kirkland
(Wichita Falls,TX.)

builds up complete pressure, but will not shut off

Darrel, it fills past the normal cut out pressure point, and continues to run? If so, you must have had the PRV let go on you?

Regardless, this sounds like it's time for a new pressure switch, and do it before you use the compressor again.

The only thing now saving the compressor from overload or over-pressurization is the PRV. That's not redundant enough for me.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Darrin. What pressure will the tank gauge show, before the pressure rises no further?

Or, does it not generate any pressure in the tank at all?

Please post your answer as a comment here so I can follow the thread.

Cheers,

Bill
