How often do I need to replace my diesel air compressor?

I need to make a decision based on new exhaust regulations. So, do I modify the exhaust on compressors that are 12 years old (and presently working ok) or do I go on and buy new compressors.

Bill says...Hello Bill. I don't have any info on the exhaust regulations for S.C., or anywhere else, for that matter.
I suppose I would look at the cost of replacing versus the cost of modifying the existing compressors.
Your compressor supplier should be able to give you a reasonable life expectancy for the existing compressors. Let's say that it's five more years... or whatever number they give you.
That would mean that you have about 30% life left in your present compressors.
If the cost to modify them is less than 30% of the cost to buy new, I would surmise that it would be lower overall cost to modify rather than buy new.
That's how I would go about it, anyway.
Cheers,
Bill
