How much compressor oil for the 3JR76 - 2.5 quarts and still pouring

How much oil is needed to be placed in my 3JR76 Model Speedaire compressor. Ive already put 2 and half quarts and see nothing on the watch glass.

Gregory, I don't have the specs on that compressor. It seems to me that 2 1/2 quarts is an awful lot.

Are you sure you are pouring the oil into the sump? If so, then press on, as it will appear in the sight glass eventually.

This compressor is no longer available from Grainger, but parts are. Looking at the specs...

... it seems to me that this compressor sure shouldn't take two quarts of oil.

Something is amiss. You should contact Grainger to get a manual.

Too Much

I had the same problem. Drain the oil, and take the sight glass out and clean it. Then start over, it won't even take half a quart. Save your rings, mine are now blown. Oh well, now I know.
