My Old blue Kellog has spring steel valves
by: hippy

Just in case anyone needs to know. My Old blue Kellog has spring steel valves.

Unbolt the 6 head bolts, pull the top portion w/cooler lines attached, then pull the valve plates.

There are 2 plates that contain the valves (spring steel) so long as the gaskets are good, leave them alone. The plates have a pin mid way on both ends so you need to gently pry apart to expose the "valves".

I used old clock winding springs to rebuild mine 5 years ago, still going strong. Find someone that rebuilds / repairs old clocks. They'll have boxes full of them. bring your caliper to verify dimensions.
