How do i fix the air compressor from blowing fuses when starting?

Compressor has work fine for 15 year.

Now when you try starting it, it blows fuse.

I've checked the check valve and it works.

I've even bypassed the pressure switch and it still blows. It's wired for 120 volt but it can be wired for 240 volts.

Casey, it's blowing the fuse / popping the breaker either because you have an electrical fault, or the motor is drawing too many amps on start up.

You bypassed the pressure switch and still the fuse blows.

This suggests to me a motor issue. Can you pull the motor and take it to an electrical motor rebuild shop for a test?

Cheers,

Bill

Took motor to local repair shop
by: Casey

Went to local repair shop. Told them I thought one of the capacitors were bad. He took them both off and tested them. One of them was bad. He replaced it with a new one. Ten minutes and %23.00 later I was back home with a compressor the was working once again.

Thanks very much Bill..............
