I ran my compressor off an extenion cord were it kept tripping breaker then it started to run slow then hum then stop. I rented another one it too did the same thing until i unplug it from the cord. Then plug it in the Wall sockit were it started to run fast. So I though mine will work too but it didn't.

Hi there, Wendell. Whoops!

Let's look at an example. Consider your electric motor as a reservoir that MUST keep say, 5 gallons of water in it all the time to run properly. Then, while the motor runs it uses a gallon a minute of water. Now, you supply water to that motor through a hose that can only supply 1/2 gallon a minute. It won't be long before your compressor runs out, will it?

By using a too-small or too-long extension cord, you effectively under-supplied the electric motor with electricity. When that happens, motors will run poorly, and they will overheat.

I think you have fried your air compressor motor as a result.

You need to get the motor tested.

Good luck.

Bill
