HL7013 Unloader valve replacement

I have a 5 hp, Campbell Hausfeld reciprocating air compressor Model number HL7013. Currently all original parts. I bought this new from The Home Depot back in 1986.

The unloading or bleeder valve is stuck open. The pressure switch is 1/4 inch hard piped but the bleeder is 1/8 flex line.

Can I just replace the bleeder, the part that's leaking of do I have to replace the whole pressure switch? Where can I find the parts I need to purchase in Ft. Worth TX? Thanks.

Doug in SD CA. told me this problem is often mis-diagnosed & he hit the nail on the head!. The bleeder valve was doing exactly what it was suppose to be doing if the check valve fails. After reading the section on pressure switches I re-diagnosed the problem & found the check valve to have failed. The bleeder had to be removed anyway to get the check valve out so I confirmed this before removing. Permanent lock tight was used on the check valve going in the holding tank, but a deep 7/8 socket & a 6 ft cheater solved that problem. I went to Northern's & found the exact replacement needed for $20. I was pleased & my air compressor is back up & working again, Thanks to Doug pointing me in the right direction!

Probably not. This problem is frequently misdiagnosed.

They key is: When does it "leak" and for how long?

This covered in the section pertaining to pressure switches.
