Hitachi EC12 Portable Electric 2hp Air Compressor runs slow and intermittently.

My Hitachi EC12 Air Compressor pumps very slowly when first turned on, it sometimes will and sometimes won't pressure up to 125 PSI, it will on rare occasions run at normal speed but it's anyones guess at what pressure it will cut off.

Things that pop to mind immediately are that you have too much draw on the electrical supply to the compressor, and when too much electricity is being sucked out of the compressor circuit, it may not have enough to run properly.

The intermittent part of your compressor problem is puzzling to me.

Power supply or mechanical, I'm guessing.

The compressor shouldn't shut off until the pressure in the tank reaches the pressure switch cut-out. If the compressor is turning off before that pressure level is reached (shutting off, not stalling or off on thermal overload) check the pressure switch too.
