Help with old sears 106170641 compressor

by Al Snedden

Just bought one from a gentlemen from practically nothing. Label says it is wired from factory for 220v. Somebody wired a 110 volt plug which on the gould motor will pull 22 amps. Not good all circuits in townhouse are 15 amps. I was thinking of replacing cord to a 220v plug that will plug into my dryer 30A 220v wall socket. It does run. Am I on the right track here? Also what kind of oil is used. Thanks, Al

Sure, you can run it off your dryer outlet.

Just make sure the motor is wired for 220 or you might let the smoke out of it.

You can probably run regular "compressor oil" or 20 or 30w non-detergent synthetic oil.
