it goes to 75 psi and never goes past that

Hi Melinda.

From the "my compressor won't build pressure" page there is a link to the common reasons.

You may have a valve problem, a gasket issue, a system leak, check valve issue... it could be many things, and you haven't given me enough information to even guess.

See the check list, and let us know if that helps identify the reason why your compressor won't build pressure.
