Has motor failed or an internal safety switch in air technique series 6600?

Air Techniques Air Star compressor

Air Techniques Air Star compressor

My air techniques dual 6600 series compressor has been found with only one head working the other just makes buzzing sound but won't start.

Someone conducted a repair of the water line above the compressor and they covered the compressor with the sheet of plastic and forgot to remove it. Consequently the plastic was sucked in by the air intake of the head and probably created overheating situation. (not practically sucked in but enough to obstruct an airflow)

Is there a possibility that the motor still works, what measures should I take before I call the 150 dollars/hr. technician? Thanks for the help, Sincerely Johnny

I couldn't find any specs on your air compressor, Johnny.

At their site (http://www.airtechniques.com/) I found the image of the Air Star 50, a newer air compressor that's close to yours in capacity, I would think.

Having seen the images of the compressor, it were mine, I'd check the capacitors of the motor on the pump that isn't working next.

See the page on how to do that in troubleshooting on this site.

Cheers,

Bill
