GMC comressor - volume of oil needed in compressor sump

I have a GMC belt drive single cylinder compressor. The sight gauge for the oil level can no longer be seen through. I need the volume of oil required in this motor, i can then drain it, refill, then make a dip stick

Tony, I am happy to post this so someone that might have this info can offer it.

The issue is that there may be more than one size of GMC compressor, and if so, how will anyone know which one you have or what the oil volume of your compressor is?

Is it not possible to replace the sight glass so that you can see the right level as you fill it?

Or, can you drain the sump into a container and use that quantity as a guide for when you refill it?

Good luck,

Bill
