Gasket material for Devilbiss 330

I want to pull the head off my Devilbiss 330 air compressor, to check out the valves and bore.

As there are no gaskets available for this model, what should I use to make a new gasket?

Will normal auto parts store gasket material hold up to the compression?

Probably -

Consider that a gas engine will have a compression ratio of 10, or over 140psi, even BEFORE ignition.

Also, to my knowledge we've not seen any reports of trouble with such gaskets, if they were properly cut out.
