Gas Compressor motor shutting down after pressure is reached
by Kevin

When I start my single stage gas compressor it will build up to the set pressure of 120 psi and then the motor will shut down

Bill says...As I understand the function of gasoline powered air compressors, when the cut out pressure is reached in the tank, the pressure switch throttles back to gasoline engine to an idle, saving fuel, and having the engine ready to throttle back up when the pressure switch calls for more air in the tank.
I don't think it's supposed to shut your motor off. The problem then is possibly in the throttle setting. Perhaps the gas feed is being shut too far to keep the engine running?
If this is something you can't correct yourself, you need to involve a mechanic or gasoline powered compressor person for assistance.
Cheers,
Bill
