By the term lather means that oil is extremely foamy when we change it at service time . We have tried extent oil also but it is forming a lot of foam .

Lather?
by: Carl

Hi,
What do you mean by lather?? Do you mean when you look in the oil level sight glass or when you open the filler cap?

Im not sure how much you know about screw compressors so I'm sorry if you already know this but air and oil mixes in the same vessel, which is where you look through the sight glass, tiny tiny bubbles in the oil sometimes makes the oil look emulsified or lathery so nothing to worry about.

Secondly if the oil is actually emulsified then you need to run it on load for at least 30 minutes per week on constant to get the oil hot. This will improve the oil consistancy and extend the life of the compressor

Hope this helps

Carl

GA55VSD shuts down on F0005 fault

GA55VSD Starts runs 45 sec Shuts down on F0005 fault

We shut down unit to inspect and change dip switch setting from 50hz to 60hz on siemens drive. After that would start and shut down on fault mentioned. Set switches back same result. Many mech checks, went through drive params, still nothing. Can connect a 5hp motor to leads and it runs. 75hp on unit shuts off after 45 sec. same fault. Siemens no real help other to say air end prob. Not much air produced when running for short time. can't tell if in drive or elsewhere. Copco not much help and no local certified service. Could something have changed in drive HMI when pulled out for dip switch change? I am not sure what would have changed. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Regards,

Dave

G55 element outlet temp still high after service

Provided the g55 with an oil change new oil filter and air filter
After running for two hours the unit went back to it's original outlet temp which was 116 degrees Celsius
After trying to let it cool down and upon restart the compressor went into a shutdown mode with a red flashing light saying rota on the display screen, could not find what this means anywhere

Roto may refer to roto-injectfluid(sic).

It's in the footnotes for chapter 18 of the Atlas Copco Elektronikon controller.

Suggests wrong or not enough fluid, or some circulation problem. Maybe blocked scavenger tube letting the rotors run dry?
