Safety valve caused by dryer freezing??
by: Carl

Anonymous, that's not true, if the dryer freezes up then you won't get any pressure to the system and the compressor will just go onload offload onload offload continuously (just the same as if you turned the ball valve off on the compressor outlet)

If the separator safety valve goes off on the separator tank, then the separator filter is blocked, that is the purpose of the valve.

Safety valve

Had this issue. If there is an integral dryer and it is freezing up it will cause this as the pressure sensor is after the dryer. It sees demand but cant let the air out of the unit. Need to check hot gas bypass on dryer.

Dont adjust it!!!
by: Carl

Please never EVER adjust a safety valve!!!! If you suspect it being faulty then replace it!!! Adjusting a safety valve can be literally lethal!!!

Your separator filter is blocked, have a full service done on it and it will run perfectly again

Is it going off for cause? Or at a safe pressure?

If the latter, try cleaning it in solvent and blow dry. If it still goes off on safe pressure, either adjust it if adjustable, or replace.
