Emglo dual tank compressor (electric) not shutting off

by Ben

Pressure builds just find, but it will not shut off once it reaches the top psi. Instead it gets to the point of max psi for the unit and the safety valve opens to release the excess pressure.

One person told me that the "auto switch" could be stuck in the "on" position, but I don't know where to locate this, nor do I know what to look for to see whether I can fix it, or if it would need to be replaced.

Thanks.

Hello Ben. Very nice to hear from you. Thanks for popping in.

Please have a look at the page about Pressure Switches.

Based on what you've written, I think yours has a problem.

This is the device that controls the "On/Off" of your compressor, and if it fails, as I think yours has, the only safety net you have left to prevent catastrophic over-pressurization is the PRV. Fortunately, yours is working.

Get your pressure switch fixed / replaced right away.

Cheers,

Bill
