Emglo 55168 Motor Slows Down as Pressure Builds

Bill,

I have an Emglo 55168 and until recently it ran great. Now, when I turn it on, initially, it builds up pressure and runs just fine. After about 45-60 seconds, the motor starts to slow down and it smells as if the motor or the belt is getting too hot.

The pressure does not build up past 40-50 psi.

I replaced the belt last year. Could the belt be too tight, causing the motor to slow down as the belt heats up? I would think that a belt that was getting warm would allow more flexibility and relieve some of the pressure on the motor.

Can you offer some thoughts? Thank you!

Bill,

Which page on which site? :)

There is not a link if one was intended to be inserted. I also looked on you webpage and don't see a link for capacitors. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

Regards,

Travis

PS - I've watched the pump turn and the belt does not seem to be slipping as the other poster mentioned. I will check the capacitors and see if that resolves the issue.

I suspect it's not the motor, but the pump itself that's slowing.

You should check to see if the belt is *slipping*.

That would explain your symptoms.

Sure. All other conditions on the compressor being unchanged, if this were mine, I'd be doing a capacitor check.

Please see how on the page on this site.
