No pressure buildup when I last tried to use. In fact, I normally leave the tanks open for a minute before closing to build pressure. Like I said, it ran slowing for a few seconds like there was a brown out, then slowed right down and stopped altogether. Total run time was about 4 to 5 seconds. It was plugged directly into a wall outlet, no extension chord this time or any other time I've used this compressor in the past. That same day I brought it into the house to really warm up for a few hours but there was no response at all.

motor slow then stops by: Anonymous
Thanks for the help. The fact that it ran slowly for 3 seconds before stopping is baffling. I will however have someone check to see if power is getting through to the switch, motor etc.

Some air compressors have a start / run capacitor, others don't. That might account for it.

check the capacitor by: AB
check the capacitor, the motor requires this to work and start. if your compressor is 8 years old the capacitor could have failed. it might be worth a look on ebay, typical prices are between £6-£10 pounds alway worth a punt

Is pressure building up ? by: Anonymous
I leave the valve on tanks open for 30 seconds before restarting and building up pressure.
The compressor motor is not operating at all currently ( not even slowly ) and there is no pressure in the tanks. ( tank valves are open )
Thanks for getting back to me on this.
