EC2510E will not reach shut down pressure

Gas air compressor will not reach shut down pressure. I have a new Hitachi pump on a gas compressor. Will slowly build pressure up to 90 to 100 psi. Then run slow to about 125 psi, will not reach the 140 shut off point of the valve.

Air compressor is Hitachi 5.5 hp 8 gallon wheelbarrow , Model EC2510E

Tom -

I understand it's a new pump and belt.

It remains a possibility that the pump is bad, or the belt is too loose or too tight, and that the pump may be defective.

Also, that there may be leaky connections somewhere.

If the engine isn't quitting, then sounds like you either have a loose or incorrect belt, or a leak somewhere. Or, worst case, a bad gasket in the pump.

Engine running fine

It is at high-speed waiting to build pressure. Slows up and stops around 100 psi. If I pull out of the idle control it will idle down. Just will not build pressure to the shutdown.

What's the engine doing during this?

Is the pneumatic accelerator working?
