Don't know how much oil is needed. No manual.

G'day and thanks for a great website.

I've got a single cylinder 3HP belt drive air compressor. Not sure on the tank capacity but you might be able to tell from the pic I've included.

I don't have a manual and have used all available keywords on the compressor to try and locate one- to no avail.

It doesn't have a dip stick but, as you can see, it does have a oil window with a mark in the center. The red cap on the cylinder is where the oil goes in.

I was wondering how much oil I should put in it when I do an oil change? The oil level is currently halfway up the oil window, in line with the center circular mark.

Thank you kindly.
Bradley D.

Bradley, while I cannot be sure, I can tell you that on my sight glass the "full" level is the center of the glass.

If your oil level is there, I think you should be OK. Don't let the level fall too far below the center point, and for goodness sake, don't overfill it. That causes problems too.

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks Bill.
I filled it to the center mark and have had no issues....touch wood....(he says, touching his skull) hehe.

Great site with loads of good tips. You're a legend.

Nope, not a legend. Those folks have already passed on. I just look I should have. Glad it works. I'm touching wood (skull) for you too.
