doesn't stay running

runs for 30 seconds then shuts off. the motor acts like and sounds like it wants to run then it trips the breaker. it's a kobalt 60 gallon 3.7 hp model. i am trying to do break in period. i have the petcock open so tank doesn't build pressure. it's brand new. and it has a dual voltage motor on it it's wired for 110. but i can be wired for 220 also.

Close the petcock to see if you are getting any pressure buildup during the 30 second run before it pops out.

How many other items are pulling power from the same circuit you have the compressor on?
