Does a Hydrovane 13 run all the time?

by Ben

Hi i have just aquired a Hydrovane 13 its an old machine the question is when it gets up to pressure is it right that the motor continues to run although not producing compressed air - or should it cut out then when pressure used cut back it?

I think it continuously runs - can i add a cut off (like a normal compressor)

thanks in advance Ben.

Run on timer?
by: Carl

Some hydrovanes do run continuously, but not all.

Have you tried running the machine with the outlet valve closed? I mean so you know there are no leaks in your system?

If it still does the same then it may be that it is designed to do that OR does your machine have a box where the electrics are? If it has, have a look to see if it has a timer or a couple of timers in there (your direct online hydrovane will have just one) you will see they have a setting on the front, one has 0-30 seconds for example, the other 0-100 minutes for example).

This or these timers, are your run on timers. Your hydrovane should have the 0-? MINUTES, this times how many minutes your compressor will "run on" for (normally set to 2 minutes) if no air is required. If your compressor has one then replace it.

If it doesn't have one, you can have one fitted by your local air compressor company, but be warned, they are expensive, 9 times out of 10 more than your compressor is worth, buying a replacement compressor is normally cheaper.

Hope that helps
