Filter before regulator

What Bill said about filter placement is an easy project for smaller compressors. Just insert a filter before the regulator. Just a bit of re-plumbing.

Dirty regulator
by: Bill

Renny, there are a number of locations inside a typical air regulator that will be negatively affected by dirt, and prevent seals from working properly, and you end up with a regulator leaking.

There is a reason why commercial air compressors are normally equipped with in line filters BEFORE the regulator and lubricator, if a lubricator is being used. And that's to keep air borne debris / dirt and free water out of the regulator.

So yes, dirt can cause air pressure regulator leakage.
