D55154 wont start
by: Ralph

I used the compressor with a 50 ft ga.12 extension cord, at first, it starts and after several seconds it stops. I moved it and plugged the compressor to a receptacle, it started and build up pressure, but in the middle of my work it didn't kick-in to refill the tank with air until air was inadequate. so i emptied the tank and start by switching-on and still didn't work.

Compressor extension cord
by: Bill

It's the capacity of the extension cord that is the issue.

If you have a big enough (wire gauge) extension cord you can run a long one.

If you have a too small extension cord, then you are starving the motor.

Don't do this! :-)

DeWalt D55154 Will Not Start

I will be sure to never use too long of an extension cord again. I pushed the reset button and it's running again.
Thanks Bill

DeWalt D55154 will not start

Not to my knowledge, but to be sure, you can download info on this model here:

http://servicenet.dewalt.com/Products/Detail?productNumber=D55154

Overheating the motor, by underpowering it by using a too small extension cord, may have damaged a start cap, or the motor.

See the troubleshooting page on this site about air compressors that won't start for some things to check.
