by sorab
(benicia,ca,solano)

I have 5 hp 20gal oil free air compressor made by pro air Devil Biss.

Recently it stop build pressure. It run for 20 min to build 50 psi and can run some times for an hour or two to build to the max and it seems like it does not pass 60psi any more but the compressor is keep running.

I toke the cylinder a part and ck for any damages but I could not find any. clean them and put them back together. before I spend money on it for parts I want to make sure it can be fix. do not want to spend more than what the compressor worth.

Sorab, I sure understand not spending a lot of money fixing what may not be an expensive air compressor to start with.

I sure wish I knew what part you inspected.

A couple of things that could cause your compressor to run and not build pressure are a failing intake or compression valve or a gasket that fails at 50 PSI.

There are things to check listed on a page linked from this one.

Please comment here and tell me specifically what you have checked, please.

Cheers,

Bill

What is the CFM capacity on a model 230

What is the CFM capacity on a model 230

Dan, the "rule of thumb" is you will get about 4 CFM of compressed air at 90 PSI for each HP of compressor motor size.

The CFM output of all compressors will vary with the pressure. The higher the pressure, the lower the flow.

If you need an exact number, then you have to know the pressure you need the flow at, and you'll need to either contact Devilbiss for that info, or have a knowledgeable reader provide it for both of us.

Cheers,

Bill

Pete, I'm not comfortable responding to this myself. The ramifications of what you are attempting could be a problem.

I am happy to post this for other Devilbiss air compressor owners to comment.

It were me, I'd be talking to these folks: www.dvsystems.ca

Here's one I found, Dan:

330 Devilbiss Serial #269357
1.5hp Westinghouse motor 115/230v
Tank is vertical and large (tank+compressor = taller than 6'1")

Here is a company that specializes in Devilbiss. Though they don't show a model 330, they may be able to help. Why not email them?
