Craftsman - the rubber or plastic tubing that goes from the on/off switch

by Andrew
(Michigan)

Hi, I have a craftsman 5hp, 22 gallong compressor.

The other day the rubber or plastic tubing that goes from the on/off switch (and where the pressure dial is) to the tank burst.

I went to sears replacement parts and got the correct replacement part and within an hour when the tank got to 80 psi, it the tube blew again.

Any thoughts?

The replacement part number is CAC -1245 and is called a presuure tube on the sears website.

Thanks

Hi Andrew.

Our syntax is a bit different, so I'm not quite sure where the tube is located on your compressor.

Please try this first, and if it doesn't work, then start a new post and upload a photo of the tube on the compressor, OK?

Dump all the air from the compressor tank with the motor off and unplugged.

Remove the fitting where the air from the pump enters the tank. In there you should find a check valve. Make sure that this check valve is working, and is not plugged with debris.

Reinstall and test. Any change?

Cheers,

Bill

Bill,

Your advice was dead on...I checked the valve and the metal tube that goes from the check valve to the motor has slipped down and was completely blocking the air passage way.

Easy fix!
