Craftsman compressor won't build pressure...motor just runs

I have a small 12 gallon 1hp Craftsman oil air compressor that I use for very light duty.

Yesterday, while attempting to add air to my tires, I noticed after turning it on, it just sits at 20psi on both gauges and will not build tank pressure.

I am fairly mechanical, but know NOTHING about compressors. Any suggestion where I should start?

Hey Justin. Welcome. Thank you for writing in.

Tell me, did you get a chance to read the questions and answers posted at the bottom of the "Compressor Will Not Build Pressure' page?

I suspect that you'll find the answer to your problem there if you just take the time to review them.

Immediate checks include is the drain valve closed, any leaks bleeding off air anywhere, is the motor shaft turning...these and the others noted.

If nothing noted works, do write back in telling me what you've checked so far, OK?
