Craftsman air compressor problem

by Alex

I have a Craftsman Air Compressor (15 gal). The problem started when I would turn it on, it would build about 20psi then shut off, it would start back up in like 30 seconds and continue off and on like this till it reached maximum psi(120).
Now it will not turn on at all. Any idea as to what could be the problem?

Alex, have a look at the Pressure Switch page on this site.

What you are describing sounds like a pressure switch problem to me and getting a better understanding of what they are all about will help you determine the cause of your compressor issue.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi I have an 80Gal. 6.5hp Craftsman Prof. air comp. This thing will run on and on unless I manually shut it off, also it will never exceed 80psi. to which I can't even air up a tire. what could be the problem with this.

Thank you
Loren

Pressor Switch is not the problem
by: Alex

Hi as to your recommendation I replaced the pressor switch yet the compressor still did not turn on.

What would you recommend that I replace next?

Hi Alex....

Those of us that don't build or repair compressors daily share your frustration.

One of the many difficulties with trying to diagnose a problem from afar is the lack of information that can help focus in on the problem.

Please have a read of the many complaints on the pages about why compressors don't start at this location:

www.about-air-compressors.com/compressor-will-not-start.html"

See if any of the issues others have experienced seem like yours. If they do, their solution is quite likely yours as well.
