Craftsman 919.165250 compressor ~Replaced valve body, but still won't build pressure
I have a Craftsman 919.165250 compressor. I went through your site and it seems the valve plate was bad. Upon replacing it, same issue and the old one and gaskets look fine.
This compressor has a muffler port that allows air out, I am not sure if that is supposed to be intake air only, but air does come out. I have gotten it to build to 80 lbs, although it does so slowly. It never stops running and does not seem to drag at all. Also, even if I turn the regulator down to 40 lbs and the tank builds to 60, it still does not shut off. I am disabled and cannot afford a repair bill, help.
I was thinking it was the switch/pressure valve, I have no leaks when it is off, it holds the pressure overnight. I found on ebay where I can get reasonable prices on parts, just need to know what to do. prompt response would be fantastic. have a great Thanksgiving.

Bill says...G'day. I don't know of a muffler port on this compressor. I think you are referring to the intake port, into which is screwed an air filter to keep "bricks and 2x4's" out of the compressor innards.
If you have air coming out that port, it's a pretty good indication that your valve is leaking.
Cheers,
Bill
