Craftsman 3 Gallon Horizontal Air Compressor won't bui;d up pressure

Mike, no pressure in the tank at all, or pressure builds to a certain level, and stays there even though the compressor keeps running?

Can you feel air being pulled into the intake port (take filter off)?

Please provide more info as a comment here so I can follow this thread.

Cheers,

Bill

Winston, I'll be happy to help if I can. But first, I need to know what you mean by a "flow valve"?

Could you be a bit more specific as to what this is?

Please post your answer as a comment here so I can follow the thread.

Thanks,

Bill

leaking regulator
by: Ron

Thanks Bill. I`ve looked all over the internet for info on why the regulator leaks when the compressor is not running. They all say buy a new regulator. This is the first article I have read that makes sense to me. Thanks a million! Ron

FLOW VALVE / UNLOADER
by: Anonymous

Bill, the "Flow valve" (part description on the invoice I got from "sears.com/partsdirect")is the valve opposite the intake valve on the comp. head on the craftsman .I think it refers to the "unload valve."
Thanks again for your response.
Winston.

Howdy again... If indeed you are referring to the unloader valve, and it is bleeding air when the compressor is stopped, then you need to look to your CHECK VALVE as I suspect it is allowing air to exit the tank and flow out the unloader valve which, by the way, is supposed to be open when the compressor stops. It's the check valve that is supposed to keep the air in the tank.

by Dennis
(Denver)

I am replacing the reed vlave #921 E100229 in Model#921.153101 with gasket kit#921 E100959. What are the head bolt torque specs?

Any advise re: doing this repair?
_______________
There is a bolt torque guide found under troubleshooting on the sitemap page. I don't have the exact specs for this compressor.

Anyone else?

Bill

3 Gallon Craftsman won't start
by: Bill

Reading the troubleshooting pages about why air compressors don't build air would be good.

Then, start a new thread under Craftsman air compressors if you would, and identify the model number of your compressor.
