Craftsman 3 gal 1hp Compressor Will Not Build Pressure

by Derek
(Pa.)

Craftsman 3 gal 1hp Compressor was working fine one minute and the next would not shut down or build more than 40 pds.

Only leak is from crankcase breather. If the reed went bad could the pressure back into the crankcase?

Reeds are $4.+ shipping. Rings are unavailable. New is $100 What do you guys think? Only use occasionally for DIY projects. FarmerD

Hello Farmer D. From the symptoms you describe, I think that you've got a gasket failure in the head, and instead of pumping more air into the tank, once that 40 PSI is reached, the air is taking the easier flow path and back out through the inlet port.

Cheers,

Bill

Won't build pressure
by: Bob D

I have a the same problem with my Craftsman 3 gal compressor. How difficult is the repair. Not sure the compressor is worth it.

______________

It depends on what is causing the problem. With no details of your compressor, I cannot even begin to guess.
