Craftman model 919.167310 30 gal. air compressor

Compressor is suppose to shut off @ 140-150 psi. It continues to run and if you don't shut it off manually it keeps on running up to 170 psi or more. Pressure relief valve does not come on either. What do you think the problem is?

Here is complete info on how the how the Pressure switch works.

If the compressor doesn't shut off at the normal high pressure cut out, then it's normally the pressure switch that's the problem.

The PRV is set to blow at a higher pressure than the 170 PSI your unit reached before you shut it off, I would guess. Get your compressor running and air in the tank, then pull the ring on the PRV to make sure that it will open. If it does easily, then simply push it closed, and it should stay.

Cheers,

Bill
