convert 3phase to single phase by changing the motor

My Speedaire compressor has C face motor mount. The motor is 3 phase. Is this the standard NEMA C mount? I want to change it to single phase.

Go to "Wolf Automation" web site...read on variable frequency drives.
I have my mill, large pedestal grinder, compressor on VFD's. Very simple installations if you are a craftsman/handyman .There is a new VFD that is perfectly suited for the compressor crowd. Compressors are the hardest starting for VFD's but it can be done. 220 vac single phase input(typical garage/shop 220 from the wall) to VFD...output to your equipment @ 220 vac 3 phase.
Take some time and read on this. The amps stay low...cost effective...with no loss of torque to equipment. Had one(VFD)on my 2hp Bridgeport mill for 2 yrs now.....love it !

Unless it's really old, I'd say yes.
