Control or "line" valve needed for older Montgomery Ward portable compressor
by Terry Schliesman
(Gunnison, CO)
I'm looking for a small part, about the size of a peach, that the air hose connects to on an older (mid-1970s) Montgomery Ward compressor. It has the ball valve within it that, when turned from the "off" position, allows the air to run into the hose and out the tip. It has a (roughly) 5/8s sized thread that is screwed into the air tank and a (roughly) 3/8s size thread that connects back to power supply (if I recall correctly). The part is manufactured by Control Devices, Inc of St. Louis. Serial number of compressor is 05141-506694.
Other than this part, the compressor works great. There was a crack in the fitting where the air hose was attached. The previous owner just wrapped duct tape around to prevent air leaks. When I received the compressor, I removed the duct tape and consequently broke off half the threading and neck of where the hoses attaches to. So now I can't connect an air hose to the compressor.
Any ideas where I might find this part? Any help is appreciated.

Bill says...No idea where to get the part Terry. I hope another reader does.
However, as long as you have a threaded nipple or female thread where the air exits the tank, you can retrofit a more standard coupler into which you can plumb your air line with a mating connector on the end.
Cheers,
Bill
