is there an osha rule that states how the plant air has to be connected, whether it is crimped on or can you hose clamp with hose barb

I cannot speak for OSHA. Check with them for their rules... however, I have connected up many an air line, and used instant fittings, barbed fittings with clamps, threaded fittings of all kinds... the only thing I haven't used is a crimped fitting. And, I have never checked with any regulatory body as to what fittings to use, though for the main I've used industrial fittings from reputable companies.

The important thing is to make the connection tight enough so no air leaks, as far as I'm concerned.

Cheers,

Bill
