Compressor won't kick on when pressure drops.

My compressor will only start if there is zero pressure in the tank. I thought the problem was too much pressure on the head & sought to solve it by replacing both the check valve & the pressure switch. However, the problem persists. It starts fine at zero pressure, builds up & then shuts off when it's supposed to. As air is used, it gets to the point of kicking back on, but it can't get going and trips the breaker.

Hey Randy... the compressor symptoms you describe are exactly what happens when the UNLOADER VALVE doesn't work properly.

Maybe the toggle to the unloader wasn't aligned properly when you replaced the switch?

Check out the UNLOADER VALVE page for more details about what they do.

Cheers,

Bill
