Compressor wont build air

What are some symptoms of the o ring on the piston having a small bad spot in it.

It's probably not an "O" ring on the piston, but probably a composite seal. However, the answer would be, regardless, if there's a path for air to flow by the piston, then your compressor won't be as efficient at building air pressure in the tank.

And, you will get increasing levels of compressor lube oil in the compressed air tank as well.
