Compressor trips out the reset button on the control box.

When the compressor in our mechanical shop is used for a period of time it will trip out the reset button on the control box that is mounted on the wall beside it. Can I adjust the pressure switch or should I replace it? Should I increase the size of the overloads in the control box? Thank you very much!!

Hello Dean. Thanks for visiting and writing in.

What I don't know, and what is making it hard to give you an answer, is what the reset button on the control box responds to?

Often reset button are thermal overloads. When the motor temperature gets too high, they trip, and that cuts the power to the motor until the thermocouple cools down.

Is your reset button heat related, pressure related, or sensing a voltage issue?

Until I know that, I can't give you even a guess.

Sorry,

Bill
