Compressor trips breaker

I bought this sears 25 gallon air compressor used. model number 919. 152920 and the compressor does not shut off after it hits regulated pressure then trips the break after a few seconds. THe compressor keeps pumping no matter wut i do when its on the auto/on position. I believe it should turn off after it hits regulated pressure then kick back in when needed.

Bill says...Hi Dustin. Yes, your compressor should shut off when it reaches the cut out pressure level, and then when you use air and the pressure in the tank drops, it should turn back on at the cut in pressure level.
When you say yours hits regulated pressure, I take that to mean that the pressure in the tank reaches the normal cut out pressure, and instead of stopping, the compressor runs on until the breaker blows?
That being the case, replace your pressure switch.
Cheers,
Bill
