Compressor throttles up when is should throttle down

by Jim
(Rockland, Ma.)

I have a rigid twin stack wheel barrow compressor. When the pressure builds to 140 lps, the unloader releases air and the engine will throttle up.

When I use it and the pressure drops to 100 lps. the engine throttles down, exactly opposite of what it should be doing.

I have several of these compressors and it seems to be hooked up the exact same as the rest. It works fine running several nail guns for about an hour then it dies. I figure there must be a valve that is opening when it should be closeing or something.

Jim, thanks for taking the time to write in.

It sounds to me like your pressure switch is wired wrong to the throttle control, but I am no expert in gas powered compressors. (Frankly, as my wife says, I'm no expert in anything!)

Your comment is posted in the hope that someone who uses these types of compressors will offer a bit of advice too.

Cheers,

Bill
